I was ordering some books at Amazon.com and hit my wishlist button. There I saw a book about a guy called Wayne Thiebaud and I had zero clue how this book got into my wishlist. The book cover does look quite welcoming with a cake painting on it. Sometimes I look at cakes and they are like tiny pieces of art. So cute with nice delicate colors. Then I looked at one of his cake paintings more closely and noticed the cream actually looked like cream. It looks to me that the painter dragged a bunch of ivory paint with a painting knife to achieve that effect. Thiebaud’s art doesn’t look deep to me…they are more about simple joy in life, or maybe some experimentation with forms. Yummy!
Some people find shopping therapeutic and love to shop around all the time. Personally I find shopping a waste of time and energy. Don’t get me wrong I love fashion, but not to point of sacrificing my feet going from store to store. Sometimes I prefer to shop online for basic clothing items. One of my favorites is American Apparel. Tees, fleece pants, pajamas, hoodies….all kinds of basic stuff everyone needs. Prices are very reasonable. A tee is less than 20USD. International shipping fee is 20USD flat rate.
They don’t have a shop in Hong Kong, but there’s a store that carries some of AA’s items.

My home is a zoo with a toy poodle, a golden retriever and a few British short hair. I noticed that a good shampoo and conditioner make world of a difference on the quality of their furs. A good one gives their furs the softness and shine, but for me that’s not enough. I need one that does the job and smells good too. I don’t care how good a product is if it leaves a gross smell on my pets. Through trial and error I found Pet Esthé to be the most promising brand. I can’t help but noticed how soft my toy poodle’s fur is after wash with a subtle but nice smell. They have shampoos for all kinds of hair types such as long, medium-short, white haired, puppies and flea shampoo. They also make other products like bath salt, mud, etc.
When you wanna cover pimples and marks, you need a concealor that’s not liquid like to provide enough coverage and won’t wear off easily. My magic product is Sofina’s spots cover specialist. It comes in a tube with a sponge tip so you can dot the stuff on the spots that need to be covered. The texture is dry yet easy to apply which is perfect for the job. Absolutely my fav!! So now you all know the secret to my flawless face.
a smile on your face when you wake up next to me
words of encouragement when things go wrong
embrace my flaws and imperfection
believe in me even though I can’t be understood
comfort me when I am sick
have the courage to be honest
refuse to take the road of deceit
good things don’t come easy
cherish the little moments of joy
don’t hide your imperfection
you are not perfect, but I love you…
Heavy feeling inside me. Do I have a choice? Things out of my control and I am feeling antisocial. Leave me alone and let me be. Taken over by negative emotions, an inevitable cycle. When will it go away? I just wanna be alone doing my own things, living my own life. Can I be myself? Would you understand? Am I too complicated for you to comprehend?
Yesterday I was walking in Central and there’s a girl in front of me. She was wearing black pants and I saw this gray thing sticking out of her pants. It’s a white panty that turned gray!! Please wear some clean and fresh underwear girls!! Love yourself and buy some nice lingerie please! I love the ones with lace…They aren’t the most practical but they definitely make me happy wearing them. Some of the brands I like are ID Sarrieri, La Perla, Lejaby, Simone Perele, Cosabella and Aubade.
Few things to keep in mind when washing your precious lingerie:
1. Handwash ONLY
2. Use lukewarm water
3. Do not dry them under the sun
4. No bleaching
I use Tocca laundry delicate. It’s mild which is good for lingerie and leaves your clothes smelling nice.

Recently I am in love with a jewelry brand by Justin Giunta called Subversive Jewelry. The brand plays with the idea of baroque philosophy that more is more and also modern deconstruction. His stuff is so chunky with an antique flair and poetic chaos. Giunta is always out there searching for unique materials, such as crystal pieces from old chandelier.
We all know how important it is to protect our skin from the sun, but do you know you should apply sun block daily even when it’s not sunny? Just because it’s not sunny doesn’t mean there’s no UVA and UVB around. Make sure you apply enough sunscreen on your face, about 1.6ml which equals half a teaspoon. When you are out shopping for a sunblock, pay attention to these 2 readings:
1. PA (Protection factor of UVA) shows how effective a product is in fighting against UVA. The Japanese created the PA standard, and in Europe, PPD standard (persistant pigment darkening) is used to show UVA protection level. PA+++ is the same as PPD 8.
PA+ delays sun burn by 2 to 4 times
PA++ delays sun burn by 4 to 8 times
PA+++ delays sun burn by more than 8 times
2. SPF (Sun Protection Factor) shows how effective a product is in fighting against UVB.
UVA does more damage to our skin than UVB. It’s the cause of skin cancer, prematured aging like wrinkles and collagen loss. I like Shu Uemura Protection with SPF50 and PA+++. It’s not greasy, doesn’t make my face white, and smells good. Highly recommended.
Mariage Frères is a French tea company that makes really good tasting tea. If you are a tea lover and haven’t tried it yet you really should mark it down on your priority list. There are over 500 varieties of tea in the Frères family. The few I’ve tried are all very unique with their own characters. One of my favorite is Earl Grey French Blue, an elegant silky blend with blue flowers. Another one is Thè Au Tibet, which is a silky and flowery black tea. Thank god their tea is finally available in Hong Kong where I live. You can find it at Lane Crawford home store in the Pacific Place. They carry about 20 blends.
